Photo Thumbnail Creator Description
Photo Thumbnail Creator is a small and simple utility to help you create thumbnails from a wide variety of image files. You can choose between cropping a section of an existing image or by scaling the whole image down to a thumbnail size. Either way, the resulting image can then be saved in any of the formats supported. Among these formats you will find JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PCX, ICO, and others. The program’s one-window interface is clear and simple, making this tool useful for all kinds of users. The interface includes two preview windows – one for the original picture and another one for the proposed thumbnail. It allows you to crop a fragment of an image and transform it into a nice thumbnail easily and intuitively. Alternatively, you can retain the original image and simply resize it to fit the dimensions usually accepted for thumbnails. However, as thumbnails are usually small square-shaped images – unlike most pictures and photographs, which follow the 4:3 aspect ratio – most of them will require a certain degree of cropping. Resizing can be done manually – setting the desired dimensions yourself –, by selecting a percentage of the original size – with values ranging from 1 to 500 – and by using any of the templates provided, from 16 x 16 to 512 x 512. Once you are happy with the size of your thumbnail and the way it looks, you can export it in any of the ten image formats supported. There is no point in denying the usefulness of a tool like Photo Thumbnail Creator. However, I think it is legitimate to question its necessity, given that getting a license will cost you. On one hand, there is a plethora of free thumbnail creators and image resizers out there for you to choose from, and, on the other hand, even the simplest free graphical editor (say, MS Paint) will let you crop and resize your images just as easily.
